ROOT CANALS

A root canal is a dental procedure to remove inflamed or infected pulp on the inside of the tooth which is then carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed. Root canals are designed to eliminate bacteria from the infected root canal, prevent reinfection of the tooth, and save the natural tooth.

ROOT CANAL RETREATMENTS

A retreatment of a previous root canal may be necessary due to different factors such as narrow or curved root canals, complicated canal anatomy, salivary contamination, or a previously failed root canal.

APICOECTOMY

An apicoectomy is a minor surgical procedure where an incision is made in the gum tissue to expose the bone and surrounding inflamed tissue. The damaged tissue is removed along with a small amount of the root tip. A root-end filling is placed to prevent reinfection of the root and the gum is sutured. The bone naturally heals around the root over a period of months restoring full function.
